LRSmedia believes the time is ripe for a new type of music entertainment company -- one that harnesses the power of broadcast platforms to expose consumers to music in new ways via multiple mediums. LRSmedia, founded by music industry leaders, creates adult-oriented music brands and products, which it markets through company-produced television, radio, the Internet and live-performance tours. LRSmedia produces content in the form of CDs, DVDs and new entertainment products such as hybrid DVDs. By creating music brands and leveraging interrelated programming to market artists and music under brand umbrellas, LRSmedia reaches more consumers in a more compelling manner than traditional music companies.
At present, LRSmedia has three brands in production with more in development.
- LEGENDS OF JAZZ with host Ramsey Lewis is a 13 part PBS television series, and a series of one hour television specials produced and created by Larry Rosen. Under the LEGENDS OF JAZZ brand the company has released a series of CDs/DVDs and a box set of recorded products. Additionally the LEGENDS OF JAZZ are on a major national concert tour sponsored by AARP. See www.legendsofjazz.net.
- RECORDING: The History of Recorded Music, created and produced by Larry Rosen, is an 8 part HD television series, a book, a traveling museum exhibition, an educational program, a series of CDs/DVDs/Digital products, and an in-depth internet site. The products are scheduled for a fall 2009 release.
- "Soundstage: The Archives" LRSmedia has acquired the exclusive license to the 1970s and 1980s public Television series "Soundstage" featuring such artists as Bonnie Raitt, BB King, Dr. John, George Benson, The Pointer Sisters, Tina Turner, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie and more. These shows will be the basis for a DVD series and television special.
While the concept sounds simple on paper, the execution requires an executive team capable of thinking across multiple mediums simultaneously. The LRSmedia team is without equal combining creative and business industry legends to forge an effective solution to the current depressed music market. Lee Rosenberg, President and CEO, has operational, entrepreneurial and senior management experience in the entertainment industry. He was a founding principal of Kettle Partners, a venture capital fund through which he served on the board of MusicNow, SportVision and Egreetings Network. He's also an active investor and operator of live event performances and venues. He previously served as Director of GRP Records. Larry Rosen, LRSmedia's co-chairman, got his start as a professional musician, moved on to becoming a record producer and co-founded GRP Records in 1982. After selling GRP to Universal, Larry founded N2K/Music Boulevard, the first online music store, which he merged with competitor CDNow in a $500 million transaction. Ramsey Lewis, a legendary multi-Grammy Award winning jazz pianist, serves as co-chairman of the company and will anchor the "Legends of Jazz" brand. Ramsey, who holds three-honorary doctorate degrees, currently hosts a nationally syndicated radio show by the same name, which can be heard on more than 70 stations nationwide.
